4 Essential Steps to Affiliate Marketing as a Beginner
There are a great many ways for an individual to make money online, working from home. But there a few that you should really focus on and decide what is right for you in terms of skills, time you have and money you have to start up your business. Many of these online money-making methods work on the same principle: bringing traffic (just like bringing in people into a store) to a site and having products or advertising for products that are being sold that you profit from directly or as a profit sharing affiliate.
My life in online work from home businesses has shown me that the following do work for beginners to more experienced people to experts. Several of them take specific skills. I can’t do coding or website development, or be a tutor. But I have made money through offering services, through blogging, affiliate marketing and running Youtube channels to promote products on websites. These often overlap so I’ve acquired skill sets that relate all these together.
- Offering services
- Becoming a virtual assistant
- Website development
- Becoming an online tutor
- Affiliate marketing
- Starting a YouTube channel
Personally, I feel affiliate marketing is the best for starting up or for more seasoned people. Blogging and services fit into this niche of marketing as I mentioned above.
Here is a step-by-step guide to succeed in affiliate marketing for beginners. This piece of information is applicable to YOU in 2020 and beyond.
When you hear about affiliate programs, the MAIN two that always come up are Amazon and Clickbank.
Amazon is one of the biggest retailers in the world, so it shouldn’t surprise you that their affiliate program is one of the biggest in the world.
Clickbank has been around for a long time and has a lot of information products, ebooks, softwares, and physical products in a ton of different niches.
After choosing an affiliate program you want to work with, it’s time to pick a niche & a product to promote!
A niche is just a specific market you want to go into.
A good way to choose your niche is to think about something your passionate about and would love to promote
So for example, if you’re into basketball like me, it’ll be easier for you to promote products in that niche because you relate to it better than the average person and you’ll feel way more comfortable talking about it.
The health, make money online and relationship niches have very high demand and are very profitable.
Funnels literally funnel potential customers to product promotion pages or to pages which are designed to acquire emails from people for future marketing.
You could promote products without funnels and landing pages, but it won’t help you to build a business. In order to build a business, you need to build leads and have a list of possible prospects for future use. There are many discussions on building funnels online.
Once you have your funnel set up you need to drive targeted traffic to your landing page where you will have your affiliate links
As a beginner, I would focus on free traffic at first (work on developing SEO skills to get your site ranked), then start running ads when you have the budget to invest into paid traffic and understand the process more deeply.
The main traffic sources I'd recommend you start with would be Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
There are also turnkey systems available which do everything for you in terms of the best products to offer, product pages, funnels, landing pages, email capture and so forth. They are commission based, as are all affiliate programs. Your main responsibility is to drive traffic to the products or landing pages, and some systems offer quality traffic for sale to send to your affiliated products.
